Throwin' it back yo

To be completely honest, I have had NO time lately. Whether it be working or going  to school, every second of my day has been planned out for quite sometime, so I apologize to the 4 of you that read this. However, I'm back! Consequently enough though, I always choose the best times to write (such as times when I should be doing other things, like writing a paper.... right now).

Life as calmed down a tad bit and I have moved in for the summer with two of the most amazing girls I know. LOVE you both! Our humble abode is so quaint and cozy and I couldn't be more happier.

We do P90x in our living room, like fools together.
We cook together (Well two of us do...).
We study together (or lack there of).
We drink WAY too much coffee together.
We buy pets together (even if I am the ONLY one who remembers to feed them everyday)

We eat heavy amounts of frozen yogurt together.
We bully and make fun of each others flaws and barriers (in a loving way though).
We send awkward pictures and videos to each other.
We watch Oprah together.
We encourage each other (which I know clearly isn't easy to tell judging by this list, BUT we do)!

We not only joke around while live together, but more importantly we pray together, laugh together, and we love together. (...That's a lot of togethers)

"In friendship... we think we have chosen our peers. In reality a few years' difference in the dates of our births, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another...the accident of a topic being raised at a first meeting. Any of these chances might have kept us apart. But for a Christian, there are, stricly speaking, no chances. A secret master of ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples, "Ye have not chosen one another but I have chosen you FOR one another." The friendship is not a reward for our discriminating and good taste in finding one another out. It is the instrument by which God reveals to each of us the beauties of others." -C.S. Lewis

I love you girls and this is only the start to a GREAT summer. :)

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

I have always essentially been waiting. Waiting to become that person I always thought I was on the verge of becomming, waiting to find something new and exciting. In my head, I was always one step away. And through it all here I am. My life is passing day by day (creepy, I know) and I am waiting for it to begin. I am waiting for that time, that person, that event.

Movies about "The Big Moment" have always been my favorite. You know exactly what I'm talking about. The ones about the game, or the wedding day, or the performance, or the record deal, the stories that split time with that one key event and everything is reframed, before it and after, because it clearly just has changed everything. I have always wanted something to grab me out of this waiting game into my "big moment" movie event.

John Lennon wrote" Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." For me, life is what was happening while I was busy waiting for my "big moment." I am here to tell you that this so called "big moment" is a huge, fat, urban myth. (Doesn't exist) Okay so maybe in some cases with the Heisman or when you become the next American Idol or the next annoying teen pop sensation (I'm talking to you Bieber). But even that football player or that singer and yes, even Bieber has a life made of up more than one moment (Just go see the Justin Bieber movie if you don't believe me).

In the best possible way, that thing that I'm waiting for, that adventure, that movie-worthy experience, this is it. Just normal daily life, the most precious thing that any of us will ever experience and I chose to believe this, as profound or frivolous as it is. Life is action-packed and multicolored if you know where to look.

Gametime

Unfortunately, my professors recently wound up their metaphorical pitching arm and threw a big ball of tests and essays at me this week. And if you’ve ever seen me play baseball, you would know that I don’t hit home runs very often. Or even ground balls. Or even THE ball. So I’ve been a little busy lately. But does that mean I've let my blogging get rusty! No siree! I have prevailed! Some call it procrastination I just call it self-reflection. Am I right, or am I right? (My chemisty homework can wait).

TALLAHASSEE WATCH OUT because the Pike's will be together this weekend!! I can't wait to spend all wekeend with my family. I miss them so much and we always have the best time when we are together.

Can't ya tell?!

I"M SO EXCITED!!

Plus the weather is going to be PER-FECT!

On a side note I just thought I would share with you what I learned the other day! ABC family has made a Mean Girls 2. Maybe you are not a big fan of Mean Girls like this girl but I am NOT okay with this. So not fetch, ABC family, so not fetch.

Well that's all for now.
Peace out cub scouts!

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Today marks the day of my FOURTH favorite holiday, Valentines day!!! (Christmas, 4th of July and Easter all preceeding)Yes I am a hopeless romantic with a love of cute little cliche things and the color red too.

If you're wondering where the origin of Valentine's day came from then you are in luck because your very own personal "this day in history" reporter is about to tell ya (listen up!)....

So there was this really mean guy named Claudius the Cruel of Rome. He believed that the reason his Roman army wasn't strong was because men were speding too much time with their families and wives and were too fixated on the idea of marriage, so he decided to ban all marriages in Rome. Well homeboy, St. Valentine, didn't agree with that, so he continued to conduct marriages in secrecy. He obviously was found conducting these practices so he was sentenced to execution. While in jail, legend has it that he he wrote a letter to the jailer's daughter who had become his friend that said "From your valentine." From there on, February 14th has been know as Valentine's day (There you have it!)

So no, Valentine's day is not the massacre in Chicago conducted by the mob during the climax of the prohibition era that supposedly put a curse on the Chicago cubs. (As a Cubs fan, February 14th, 1929 was a sad day in history, and like Claudius, Al Capone wasn't really into romance either).

I have never really understood why someone can hate today. Just because you're single and John Hughes just so happened to not take part in directing your love life, doesn't mean you should take it out on V-day!! Wanna know why? I'll tell ya! Because despite what you think, Jesus loves you. "We loved each other because He loved us first." 1 John 4:19. So refer to today all you want as "Singles awareness day," and I'll refer to it as Valentine's day, but just know that no matter what you think, you ARE loved. :)

A time for excitement!

SO HAPPY THAT IT'S THE WEEKEND!!
I have dubbed the 6th week of classes as the week when school really starts to stink! I really haven't had THAT much to do until the 6th week when I guess professors collectively agree its time to just start to pile it all on me! I had SO much to do! Hopefully the 6th week doesn't carry into the 7th!

I finalized spring break plans with the family today and I couldn't be more excited! Is it pathetic that when my dad asked me what I wanted to do all I replied back with is that "I don't care as long as it involves relaxation." He knows me way too well to know that relaxation isn't even remotely possible. I always have to be doing something! SO we will staying at the Hard Rock so I can FINALLY go to the WW of HP (Wizarding World of Harry Potter for all you noobs) for part of break and the rest of the break will be filled with TOTAL relaxation with my frands(But probably not, even my friends know that that is seemingly IMpossible). I NEED to go to the beach because I'm starting to look like a ghost. (It's a little scary) But even then, it is literally impossible for me to just lay there because I get SO bored! Man on man what am I going to do with myself? All things said...I just can't wait to spend it with these lovely people!

By the way, God can creat some pretty sweet stuff. Today was a BEA-U-TIFUL day (in Tallahassee at least, sorry all you northerners). If you didn't take advantage of it, then your lame (not really) BUT you did miss out!
